WORK IT!

Sure exercise helps you burn fat, trim your waist, and build muscle, but exercise is much more! It’s about improving your mood, your overall health, your sex life, and even living longer!

 7 benefits of regular exercise:

1. Control Your Weight Aim for at least two hours and 30 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activity or one hour and 15 minutes a week of vigorous aerobic activity — preferably spread throughout the week. The more vigorous your work out the higher your heart rate goal should be. Figure out what your target heart rate during exercise should be here. To Check your heart rate, place you index and middle finger on the inside of your wrist and count the beats for 15 seconds then times that number by 4.

2. Fight Disease  Regular physical activity can prevent heart disease and high blood pressure. IT can also lower your cholesterol and prevent health problems and concerns, including stroke, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and depression. Of course if you’re fighting disease and staying healthy you are going to live a longer, healthier, happier life!

3. Get Happy 🙂 Studies have shown that physical activity such as a brisk 30 minute walk or workout can improve your mood. Head to the gym after a stressful day at the office to blow off steam. You will feel much better! Working out can change levels of chemicals in the brain (such as serotonin), just as antidepressants might.  Physical activity also releases feel-good brain chemicals that may ease depression (neurotransmitters and endorphins)

4. Boost Energy Has the daily grind got you feeling run down? Physical activity delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. When your heart and lungs work more efficiently, you have more energy to go about your daily chores. Tip: try parking farther away in the parking lot or take the stairs to squeeze more physical activity into your day. You can also come to see us at Village Osteopath for a Vitamin B12 injection. Vitamin B12 is known as the “energy vitamin.” Be sure to get the great deal on groupon while it lasts!

5. Get A Good Night’s Sleep Do you have a hard time falling asleep or cant seem to stay asleep.  Try these yoga exercises IN BED!

6. Improve your sex life…enough said! ok ok I’ll explain…working out can make you look and feel better, which may have a positive effect on your sex life. Regular physical activity can lead to enhanced arousal for women. Men who exercise regularly are less likely to have problems with erectile dysfunction than  men who don’t exercise.

7. A Time To Socialize Working out can be fun! Grab your neighbors and start a walking/running club, join a Yoga group, run around with your kiddos.  Everyone has their own way of working out or staying active.

Here’s how we at Village Osteopath stay active.
